You must register your pool before the 4 November 2011 deadline. Penalties of up to $2000 will apply after this time.

Master Builders dispute services can assist parties to a dispute through various dispute management processes namely, 'without prejudice' conferences, mediation or arbitration.

Dispute services are delivered across Queensland through our Brisbane and regional offices.


We can also help members in relation to:

•Clarification on contract documents
•Tribunal proceedings
•Conduct of 'without prejudice' conferences
•Referral to specific contractor experts Interpretation and understanding of legislation, regulations and codes
•Referral to accredited Building Consultants through the Institute of Building Consultants (IBC)
•Quality of work disputes


The Ten Commandments for the Management of a Dispute

1. Do not allow the grievance to escalate into a dispute by avoiding or ignoring your client's grievances.

2. Maintain a good working relationship and avoid the adversarial relationships.

3. Make time to communicate with your client face-to-face and give your client the opportunity to explain the nature of their grievance.

4. Do not interrupt while your client is speaking no matter how "far fetched" you think their side of the events are.

5. Listen, listen and listen.

6. As your client talks, listen, listen, listen and take notes on what they are describing about their grievance.

7. After your client has finished speaking respond in a calm, clear and non-threatening manner.

8. Once you have both agreed on an appropriate course of action act quickly to implement the resolution.

9. If you can not resolve the grievances seek assistance sooner rather than later. For example, contact Master Builders for advice.

10. In any building related dispute you should apply sound commercial judgment by pursuing a course of action that minimizes your loss (monetary/relationships).

LANDSCAPE QUEENSLAND CONSTRUCTION EXCELLENCE AWARDS
Queensland’s landscape industry celebrated the best of the best in landscape construction at a gala dinner held in the marquee at Victoria Park golf course on Friday 26th of November. Over 300 guests applauded winners in both commercial and residential categories culminating in the Queensland Landscape Construction of the year which was awarded to Outdoor Aspect Landscaping & Design for their residential construction at Toowong. This award was presented by Tom Reardon on behalf of event partner AWX ‘Partners in People’ and with the assistance of comedian Anh Do who also entertained the audience during the evening.
This year’s awards saw entries received from as far away as Ingham and Cairns in North Queensland with judges commenting on the high quality of projects in all categories. In addition to winners in each category the judges felt it necessary to acknowledge this high standard by recommending a number of entries receive highly commended awards.
Big winners on the night included Penfold Projects who claimed three of the four commercial categories, Naturform for winning the Million dollar plus construction, Peter Milliken Landscapes who took out the residential project up to $80,000 category and Outdoor Aspect Landscaping & Design won with their entry in the residential category covering landscape construction over $80,000.
This year’s awards also included categories acknowledging training within the industry with Ross Alan Hooper winning Trainee of the Year and Jessica Armburst from Cairns Regional Council being named the inaugural Landscape Apprentice of the year. Both these winners were nominated by Horticultural Training Pty Ltd.
